FAQ & Care

Before Tox & Filler

Can I drink alcohol?

It's best to not drink before your treatment to help avoid bruising.

What should I do the day of treatment?

Avoid caffeine and eat a full, nutritious meal to decrease your chance of lightheadedness.

Remove any products such as makeup, lotion, sunscreen, etc.from the area being treated before your appointment. If you forget this one, we’ll have wipes on hand.

Should I mention any changes such as medical history?

New diagnosis? New pregnancy? New medications? We need to know. Please tell us, as some medical conditions and medications are not compatible with neuromodulator (Botox or Xeomin) treatments. It may be necessary to reschedule your appointment, as your health and safety are always our top priority.

What should I do about small bumps?

Small, soft nodules can occur as the neuromodulator is injected
These will resolve when the medication is naturally absorbed (usually within half an hour)
Please avoid massaging the treated area during this time

What should I do if I have a mild headache?

Dull headaches can occur after receiving multiple injections, and they usually resolve within 36 hours.

You can use over-the-counter medication for the discomfort as needed (but please avoid aspirin).

What should I do about swelling and discomfort?

Gently apply cool ice packs to the affected area, taking them on and off every three to five minutes for one to two hours.
Do not apply ice packs directly to the skin, or for more than five minutes at a time.

What do I do about bruising?

Small bruises can occur any time you receive injections, and they usually resolve within three to seven days.
Continue to avoid alcohol until resolved, and you can gently apply makeup over them if desired.

What should I do about itching?

Itchiness can occur when skin is cleansed with alcohol prep pads.
Take oral liquid Benadryl®, Allegra® or Claritin® (antihistamines available over-the-counter) as needed.
Apply hydrocortisone 1%, and Vaseline® or Aquaphor® to the affected area up to three times per day until it resolves.
